“Father, thank You that I can know the joy and freedom of being forgiven! Please be gracious to reveal to me those I need to forgive. Help me to love them like You have loved me. Please speak to me now from Your Word.”

Acts 24:16
"I always take pains to have a clear conscience toward both God and man."
Matthew 6:14-15
“If you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
Ephesians 4:30-32
As we fully deal with our sin, God assures us that, because of Christ’s work on the cross, He hears our prayers and fully forgives, placing our sins out of reach behind His back (Isaiah 38:17) and hurling them into the depths of the sea (Micah 7:19). We can rejoice that He will never remember them against us again (Isaiah 43:25) and that fellowship with Him has been restored (1 John 1:5-7).
But revival involves more than dealing with our sin before God; we must also deal with our sin against others. It is now time to clear your own conscience by seeking forgiveness from everyone you have offended, and making restitution wherever possible.
Then, as difficult as it may be, you must extend complete forgiveness to anyone who has wronged you. As Jesus has freely forgiven us, He commands that we forgive others. When we do, we will find great freedom.
Respond to What God Has Said
-
Identify the ones below that apply to you:
-
Have I so dealt with my sin that I have a clear conscience before God? (Yes or No)
-
Has all wrongdoing from my past been properly confessed to those involved? (Yes or No)
-
Have I gone to others that I have wronged, seeking their forgiveness?(Yes or No)
Write down the names of the people, businesses, or groups from whom you need to seek forgiveness; then pray about how to confess and make restitution for the sin you committed against them (Luke 17:1-10).
-
Have I fully forgiven all those who have wronged, offended, hurt, or sinned against me? (Yes or No)
I have forgiven in the same way Christ forgives me. This is evidenced by the following:
-
I have given up thoughts of revenge and am trusting the situation to God.
-
I am free from anger and hate in my heart.
-
I am asking God to flood my heart with love through the power of the Holy Spirit within me (Romans 5:5; Galatians 5:22).
-
I choose not to bring up the offenses any more.
-
I am willing to pray for God’s best in the life of the person who hurt me.
-
I would rejoice if that person were to be especially blessed by God.

“Father, thank You for the unbelievable gift of forgiveness for my sins. And thank You for the grace that makes it possible for me to forgive others, just as You have forgiven me. Empower me to show the world a beautiful picture of Your forgiveness. And help me keep ‘the roof off and the walls down’—nothing between You and me, and nothing between me and anyone else.”
